Non-Alcoholic Apple Cider Sangria

By Natalie Battaglia | Updated August 31, 2024

As far as non-alcoholic apple cider drinks go, my white Sangria is one of the best! Fruity and delicious with just a few ingredients, youโ€™ll be sipping on this simple punch in minutes. It can even be made in advance for guests.

Hint: if youโ€™re looking for a mocktail for one, try my quick Fall mocktail with apple and ginger.

Made with alcohol-free white wine (or alternatives listed below), apple cider, pear juice, cinnamon and fruit, this easy apple cider Sangria can be made quickly and easily for guests. Iโ€™ve offered some simple alternatives to the main ingredients if youโ€™d like to swap anything out too.

This recipe would also be perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas โ€“ you could even add some cranberries and more rosemary to give it more of a festive feel. Serve in pretty glasses with a gold rim and you have the perfect Christmas mocktail! I also love my red non-alcoholic sangria for the holidays and my white Sangria mocktail with apple and spices!

This mocktail is:

Quick and easy: the only thing you need to prepare is the fruit! Just chop your fruit, pour in the liquid ingredients, add the fruit, stir and serve.

Can be adapted: I understand not everyone loves non-alcoholic wine, so I have offered some alternatives below. My personal favorite is white grape juice.

Instagram worthy: the colors and vibe of this recipe are just so very pretty, especially when you add the gorgeous green rosemary! Be sure to tag me on Instagram (@themindfulmocktail) if you ever make any of my recipes and I will reshare. I love to hear from you.

Ingredients โ€“ What You Need

Non-alcoholic white wine: I share a list of the best non-alcoholic white wines here if you need some inspiration. I would recommend a Pinot Grigio or a Sauvignon Blanc for this recipe.

Apple cider: of course, we canโ€™t make a non-alcoholic apple cider drink recipe without apple cider! Itโ€™s your choice which brand you use; I am not overly fussy here. Tip: if you live in other parts of the world where alcohol-free apple cider is not readily available, you can make your own. Iโ€™ll add my method to the โ€˜Expert Tipsโ€™ section below. Don't forget to check out my apple cider mocktails too.

Pear juice: this is an optional ingredient but personally, I love it. Pear and apple pair perfectly and are a match made in heaven.

Ginger beer (for a sparkling option): are you a still or sparkling personal when to comes to a Sangria mocktail? Your choiceโ€ฆpersonally I love a few bubbles! If you love ginger, try my ginger beer mocktails for something quick and delicious for one.

Fruit: the sky is the limit when it comes to what fruit to use. I used pear, orange and apple, but feel free to get creative here. Cranberries are a brilliant option, especially if youโ€™d like to make this more of a festive mocktail.

Cinnamon sticks: regular cinnamon sticks will do! I like adding 2, and you might want to set aside some extras as a pretty garnish.

Maple syrup (optional): if youโ€™re a sweet tooth, you can add a little maple syrup if you wish. I donโ€™t like my drinks too sweet, so I didnโ€™t add this, but the option is there! If you donโ€™t love maple syrup, add your own choice of sweetener.

How to make the best non-alcoholic apple cider drink

  1. Prepare your fruit. I like chopping my apple and orange into rings and slicing my pear lengthways, but you do you. Set aside.
  2. Add the liquid ingredients (except the optional ginger beer) to a pitcher or small punch bowl. Note: if youโ€™re thinking of adding a sweetener, donโ€™t add it yet โ€“ you might change your mind once you taste the final recipe.
  3. Add your fruit to the pitcher and stir gently.
  4. Taste the sangria then add some sweetener if you wish. Stir again.
  5. You can either add your optional ginger beer now, stir and serve immediately, or place in the fridge for about an hour to allow the fruit to infuse. Both ways work well, the sangria will just have a stronger fruit flavor if left to infuse prior to serving.
  6. If you choose to leave the fruit to infuse, remove the sangria from the fridge after 1 hour, add your ginger beer, stir gently and serve.

Tips and Tricks

Make it festive: add some extra rosemary and some cranberries to make this into a gloriously non-alcoholic Christmas punch. These flavors really lend themselves to the holiday season!

Make it fruitier: if you have some time on your hands, leave the fruit to infuse for an hour or so prior to serving. The flavors from the fruit will seep out into the liquid ingredients, resulting in a strong, fruiter non-alcoholic punch.

Make it sparkling: I love using ginger beer to add some bubbles to this recipe. Ginger ale is another great option, as is ginger kombucha if you want to add some healthy probiotics.

Canโ€™t find apple cider without alcohol? You can make your own. There are various recipes available online, but to make life as easy as can be (because I am all about easy mocktails here!), I just chopped and cored 5 pink lady apples (donโ€™t peel them) and added them to a blender with half a cup of water. You might need to add a little more to facilitate blending. Blend well then strain using cheesecloth or just a regular strainer. If you have a juicer (I donโ€™t, oops!), just use that instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is apple cider alcoholic or non-alcoholic?

Apple cider can be both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, depending on how it is made.
Of course, it goes without saying that I am referring to non-alcoholic apple cider when it comes to this drink recipe.
The confusion comes because โ€˜apple ciderโ€™ is primarily available in the US and is a fresh, unfiltered and non-fermented apple juice, usually enjoyed in the fall. However, in many other parts of the word, apple cider refers to hard cider, which is a fermented apple juice that contains alcohol.
Always check the label to be sure!

Is an apple cider drink good for you?

Yes! There are certainly some health and nutritional benefits that come from drinking non-alcoholic apple cider. Itโ€™s essentially juiced apples, so youโ€™ll get similar benefits from when you consume whole apples, just in lower quantities. Itโ€™s also important to note that the sugar content of apple cider is quite high. Itโ€™s always healthier to consume fruit whole, but given we canโ€™t be throwing whole apples into mocktails, cider is a great ingredient to use.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle non-alcoholic white wine (or alternative - see note 1)
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup pear juice (optional - see note 2)
  • 2 cups ginger beer (optional - see note 3)
  • 1 pear, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup (optional - see note 4)
  • Extra fruit and rosemary sprigs to serve.

Instructions

  • Prepare your fruit. I like chopping my apple and orange into rings and slicing my pear lengthways. Set aside.
  • Add the non-alcoholic white wine, apple cider and pear juice (if using) to a pitcher or small punch bowl.
  • Add your fruit and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher and stir gently. Taste the sangria and add some maple syrup (or sweetener of your choice) if you wish. If you want to serve immediately, you can go to the next step. Alternatively, you can place the pitcher in the fridge to leave the fruit to infuse for an hour or two.
  • Add the ginger beer, stir gently and serve over ice with some extra fruit and rosemary sprigs to garnish.

Notes

Note 1: I recommend an alcohol-free Pinot Grigio or a Sauvignon Blanc for this recipe. If you don't like non-alcoholic wine, I suggest a white grape juice instead.ย
Note 2: Pear juice is completely optional with pairs perfectly with the apple and wine.
Note 3: I personally love a sparkling sangria mocktail, and the ginger beer works perfectly to achieve this! If you prefer still, just leave this out. Ginger ale also works well, as does ginger kombucha if you want to give your sangria a probiotic hit.
Note 4:ย I found this recipe sweet enough, but if you want to, you can add a little something to sweeten this up. Maple syrup is perfect, or you can use your preferred choice of sweetener.
