Why you’ll love this recipe
- It’s versatile: whether you choose to make an elderflower syrup mocktail or use the cordial, you can adapt this recipe to whatever suits you. I have also included a couple of different options for mixers and have tested all variations myself so you just know it will be perfect every time.
- Barely any mess: whilst I LOVE getting my shaker out to create amazing mocktails, sometimes I do create a bit of a mess! This recipe is assembled and made directly in your glass with no shaker required, saving time on washing up.
- It’s just so pretty: I’m sure you know by now that I truly believe we ‘drink with our eyes’ first, and my mocktail with elderflower is truly glorious to look at. The gorgeous green and white tones, I think it would be perfect for an engagement party, bridal shower or wedding mocktail.
Ingredients – what you need
Lime: I used one small lime, but if your lime is larger, just use half. I recommend fresh lime wherever possible, but also recognise how expensive they can be. If fresh lime is not within your reach, try replacing this with ½ oz (15 ml) bottled lime juice. You might need to add a little more depending on your preferences.
Mint: elderflower and mint mocktails are the perfect flavor combination, so you are in for a treat! Fresh mint is an essential ingredient for any non-alcoholic mojito, so don’t skimp here.
Elderflower syrup or cordial: these can be found online or in your local grocery store. I have tested this recipe using both and they were both delicious!
Soda water or kombucha: a classic mojito uses soda water as a mixer to give the perfect amount of spritzy fizz. You know I’m all about healthy mocktails too, so I will often replace the soda water with kombucha if the recipe allows. I tried this one with a plain kombucha and really enjoyed it, so the option is there if you like!
Splash of apple cider or 1 oz of your favorite non-alcoholic rum (both optional): honestly this elderflower mocktail recipe is delicious enough without, but if you like, you can add a splash of apple cider vinegar. ACV is a by-product of alcohol and and adds that ‘bite’ that often goes missing when we remove the alcohol from a drink. Tip: use it sparingly and just add a little at a time….it’s strong!
The other option is to use a non-alcoholic rum. My favorite is the Lyre’s White Cane Spirit.
Optional garnishes: you know I love a garnish to finish off a drink! Try mint, edible flowers and/or fresh lime if you wish.
How to make an elderflower mocktail

Step 2: Add the mint and gently press down on it with your muddler a couple of times.
Step 3: Fill your glass with ice
Step 4: add the elderflower syrup/cordial. Add the apple cider vinegar or non-alcoholic rum if using.
Step 5: top with soda water and stir gently.
Step 6: garnish and serve.
Expert tips and tricks
- Use lots of ice: given the flavors of both elderflower mocktails AND mojitos lend themselves to being serve in the Spring or Summer, this drink is best serve cold, so the more ice the better – fill that baby to the brim!
- To make this as a batch mocktail: use the ‘servings’ feature below in the recipe card to increase to the amounts of servings you’d like to make. This will automatically increase the ingredient quantities, so you know how much to buy. Instead of assembling in your glass, assemble in a pitcher instead. Use exactly the same process as if you are making a single elderflower mocktail. For the ice, just add a cup or two to the pitcher to keep it cold. Any more than this and you’ll water the drink down, especially if it’s going to sit there awhile before being served. When you’re ready to serve, fill serving glass with ice and pour over ice. Garnish with some extra mint and lime.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, elderflower on its own is non-alcoholic. Some great alcohol-free options are syrups or cordials. There are alcoholic elderflower liqueurs and just last month I had someone on my socials say alcoholic cordial also exists, so be sure to choose non-alcoholic if making a mocktail or non-alcoholic cocktail.
Elderflower pairs well with citrus fruits such as lime, lemon and orange, berries such as blueberries, strawberries or raspberries and herbs like mint and basil. Fruits like mango, pineapple, passionfruit, peach and apricot also pair well.

Elderflower Mojito Mocktail
Ingredients
- 1 small lime (see note 1)
- 8-10 mint leaves
- 1 oz elderflower cordial or syrup (see note 2)
- 1 cup soda water or plain kombucha
- 1 oz non alcoholic rum or splash of apple cider vinegar (see note 3)
- Mint, edible flowers and/or lime to garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Chop the lime into small pieces and muddle in your glass until the juice is released. If you don't have a muddle, use the handle end of a wooden spoon or similar.
- Clap the mint together in your hands a few times. This releases the oils and allows them to infuse into the drink once assembled. Add the mint to your glass and very gently press down with the muddler a couple of times.
- Fill your glass with ice and add the elderflower syrup or cordial.
- Add the non-alcoholic rum or apple cider vinegar (if using).
- Top with soda water or kombucha, stir gently, garnish and serve.
