Why You'll love this recipe
You'll love this hugo spritz mocktail because:
It can be made in 2 minutes: there are no bartending skills required to put this simple mocktail together. A quick pour, a gentle muddle and a little stir is all it takes! If you love all things simple, take a look at my easy mockails too.
It can be made as a batch mocktail: I am hearing your requests loud and clear for pitcher and punch bowl mocktails. You'll find the method to turn this into a batch mocktail at the bottom of the post.
It's the perfect Summer mocktail: with light floral notes, citrusy lemon, a hint of mint and tingly bubbles, this will be the recipe you choose to sip your way through Summer.
Ingredients - what you need
Non -alcoholic elderflower cordial or elderflower liqueur: With a similar flavor profile and viscosity (aka thickness), either cordial and liqueur can be used. Note that cordial can be a little sweeter, so I recommend starting with a smaller amount (detailed in the recipe below), and then adding more at the end if you wish. If you have leftovers, use it for my elderflower mojito mocktails!
Mint: fresh mint is always best!
Non-alcoholic Prosecco or sparking wine (or alternative): a Hugo Spritz is traditionally made with Prosecco so I recommend an alcohol-free version if you can find one. Otherwise, a dry non-alcoholic wine works! I have my favorite non-alcoholic wines listed here. If you don't want to use wine, try a sparkling grape juice or even a lemon mineral water.
Soda water or plain seltzer: any brand is fine!

Equipment
The good news is you really don't need a lot of equipment to recreate your Hugo Spritz mocktail at home! I recommend:
A large Spritz glass: Hint - you can chill this if you wish!
A muddler: this recipe calls for muddling mint. If you don't have a muddler, just use the handle of a wooden spoon or similar.
Something to measure: I use jiggers to measure out my ingredients, which are essentially like little measuring cups for cocktails and mocktails! If you don't have jiggers, don't stress, just use regular measuring spoons or cups.
How to make a hugo spritz mocktail
- Add your mint to your glass.
- Add the elderflower syrup
Want to save this?

3. Muddle the mint (VERY gently!) until it is slightly bruised. 5-6 presses should be plenty.
4. Top with your non-alcoholic Prosecco or alternative.

5. Top with soda water and stir gently - don't disturb those lovely bubbles too much!
6. Garnish with fresh lemon and mint, then serve.

Expert tips and tricks
To make it a batch mocktail: preparing for a crowd? No problem. To make a batch non-alcoholic Hugo Spritz, adjust the amount of serves you want in the recipe card below. This will tell you how much of each ingredient you need.
Then, add the mint and elderflower cordial/liqueur to your punch bowl or pitcher. Muddle gently. Add your chilled alcohol-free Prosecco or alternative, along with your soda water. Stir gently and you're ready to serve. Note: you can add some ice to this if you wish, but don't go overboard as you'll dilute it too much. Serve over fresh ice in glasses instead.
Chill your ingredients: lets face it, a Spritz is always best served COLD. I like chilling all ingredients prior to assembling so everything stays nice and cool and you avoid the ice melting and diluting your drink.
Experiment with variations: I love adding a couple of fresh strawberries or raspberries to my Hugo Spritz mocktail. These can be muddled with the mint to create a berry twist.
You can also try a non-alcoholic Rosé instead of white wine for a floral twist.
