Ingredients

  • 8 mint leaves
  • 1.5 oz non-alcoholic elderflower cordial or liqueur (see note 1)
  • 3 oz non-alcoholic Prosecco or alternative (can sub for sparkling grape juice - see note 2)
  • 1 oz soda water or plain seltzer
  • Optional garnishes: fresh lemon slice and mint

Instructions

  • Place the mint in your glass along with the elderflower cordial or liqueur, then muddle until the mint is just bruised. Do this VERY gently and carefully so as not to break the stem of the wine glass! 5-6 gentle presses is fine. Tip: if you don't have a muddler, use the handle of a wooden spoon.
  • Fill your glass with ice, then add the non-alcoholic wine (or alternative) and soda water.
  • Stir gently, then taste. Add a little more elderflower if you wish, stir again, then garnish and serve.

Notes

Note 1: With a similar flavor profile and viscosity (aka thickness), either cordial and liqueur can be used. I personally love the Belvoir Elderflower Cordial or the Giffard Elderflower Non-Alcoholic Liqueur. Note that the cordial can be a little sweeter, so I recommend starting with 1 oz, and then adding more at the end if you wish.
Note 2: a Hugo Spritz is traditionally made with Prosecco so I recommend an alcohol-free version if you can find one. Otherwise, a dry non-alcoholic wine works! If you don't want to use wine, try a sparkling grape juice or even a lemon mineral water.
Note on nutritional information: nutritional information is based off Belvoir Elderflower Cordial and Brown Brothers Non-Alcoholic Prosecco, and will change depending on the brands you use.
