These deliciously simple rosemary mocktails with orange and apple can be made in minutes with absolutely no bartending skills required!
Who doesn’t love mockails with rosemary? I usually only use rosemary as a garnish - take a look at my 1 minute Christmas mocktails and non-alcoholic Thanksgiving punch for inspiration. I've always wanted to make more mocktails using it as an ingredient, rather than something to just make the drink look pretty.
Why You’ll love this recipe
No syrups required: that’s right – no syrup! The herb is simply added to a shaker with lemon juice and gently muddled to release the flavor. Shaking also gives the flavor release a helping hand.
It’s rich in vitamin C: with lemon, orange and apple juice (or cider), this easy mocktail is brimming with vitamin C and other goodies. Plus if you use the kombucha, you’ll get a probiotic hit too.
It’s so very simple: Simply add the ingredients to a shaker, muddler and give it a quick shake – and you’re done! I can have this easy mocktail ready in less than 5 minutes.
Ingredients - what you need
Fresh rosemary: I am usually one to offer an alternative to fresh produce but in this case, it really does need to be fresh. Dried rosemary just won’t taste the same.
Orange juice: I prefer using freshly squeezed orange juice where I can but bottled also works. If you’re an orange lover, be sure to try my easy orange mocktails.
Lemon juice: again, fresh is best. I am yet to find a bottled lemon juice that I really love. If you only have bottled, that is also fine!
Apple cider (or apple juice): I prefer apple cider in this recipe, but apple juice works too! Try to get a cloudy apple juice if you can. If you love all things apple, don’t forget to check out my apple cider mocktails too.
Top with kombucha or sparkling water: it's your call when it comes to the mixer, but I prefer kombucha for a probiotic hit. Citrus kombucha (think orange, lemon or lime) taste just delicious. I couldn't find apple kombucha where I am but I imagine that would also be incredible.
Apple cider vinegar for bite: this is an optional ingredient but I do love adding apple cider vinegar to mocktails. Vinegar is a by-product of alcohol, so it makes sense it can ‘somewhat’ replicate that bite that often goes missing when we remove alcohol from a drink.
Equipment
Shaker: a simple shaker will work for your orange rosemary mocktail. If you’re choosing between sizes, go the slightly larger size as there is a decent amount of liquid in this recipe. If you don’t have a shaker, try a mason jar or drink bottle – anything with a tight fitting lid will work.
Muddler: You’ll need a muddler to help to release the oils and scent from the rosemary. If you don’t have one, the handle end of a wooden spoon or anything else you can use to help crush the rosemary is fine.
How to make it
To make your rosemary mocktail, just follow these easy steps.
Place rosemary and lemon juice in your shaker. Muddle until the rosemary is crushed.
Add the orange juice, apple cider and apple cider vinegar to the shaker with some ice. Replace the lid and shaker well for about 10-15 seconds.
Fill your glass with ice and strain the mixture in. Top with your choice of mixer. Stir gently, garnish and serve.
