Hot Honey Mango Mocktail

This Hot Honey Mango Mocktail is a little sultry, a little spicy, and absolutely alcohol-free...and if you haven'y tried a mango and hot honey combination - this is your sign that it's time! Ripe mango combines with the sweet heat of spiced honey for a drink that feels far more indulgent and luscious than a non-alc drink really has any right to.ย

I have a confession: up until very recently I thought hot honey was just honey that had been warmed up. Like, microwave-honey-for-10-seconds-on-high hot. I truly did not understand the hype. It wasnโ€™t until I realized itโ€™s honey infused with chiles that the lightbulb went off. I realized that gentle heat adds real depth and is exactly what so many mocktails are missingโ€ฆwhich made me think of my Mango Mojito Mocktail

Mango is wildly underrated in the mocktail world, and its sweetness is the perfect complement for that slow burn of the hot honey. Unlike citrus or berries, ripe diced mango brings body and a naturally creamy mouthfeel that makes a drink feel lush instead of thin. Its sweetness softens the spice of the hot honey, while bright lime and refreshing coconut water keep everything balanced. Even better, itโ€™s made right in the glass, so you get maximum flavor with minimal clean up.

Why Youโ€™ll Love This Mocktail

  • Mango is an underrated ingredient in mocktails - it has a thicker texture than a lot of other fruit, creating a lovely creamy mouthfeel.
  • Hot honey is incredible in mocktails because it offers some heat which can mimic the fume of alcohol. This heat also makes it a perfect mocktail for Cinco de Mayo.
  • The sweetness of mango and the heat from the hot honey is the perfect pairing.
  • The recipe is made right in the glass, saving time on washing up. I also get SO many requests for non-carbonated mocktails, and this mocktail is exactly that!

Tips & Tricks

  • The mango must, must, must be ripe, or it will not muddle well at all. If youโ€™re concerned about lumps, you can use a stick blender or small food processor to blend the mango into a puree. You might need to add a little water to facilitate blending.
  • Frozen mango can be used, just be sure itโ€™s fully thawed before use.
  • If you find the mango pieces get stuck in the shaker strainer, try using a small regular strainer to strain the mixture instead.

To make the mocktail,ย puree the mango using a stick blender or small food processor. You might need to add 1-2 tablespoons of water to facilitate blending. Add the mango puree, hot honey, coconut water and lime juice to a pitcher and stir well to combine. Sometimes the honey will sink to the bottom, so be sure to really stir well!
Serve over ice in glasses rimmed with Tajin (optional). I love creating a little garnish station so my guests can garnish their own drinks. Have fun!
