Equipment Needed

  • Punch bowl, or pitcher, or dispenser: I personally love anything with a touch of gold because it adds to the festive feel, but you do you!
  • Knife for slicing: sliced fruit really makes this punch come alive.
  • Something to stir: a wooden spoon or similar will work just fine.
  • Something to serve: again, I love a gold-rimmed glass for the holidays, but just do what works for you.

Ingredients for Cranberry Orange Punch

You only need a few common ingredients plus garnishes to make this quick and festive punch.

Cranberry juice: you can use real cranberry juice or cranberry juice cocktail

Orange juice: I recommend using a low to no-pulp juice.

Ginger ale: use diet for a lower sugar option if you wish. It can also be replaced with ginger kombucha for a probiotic hit!

Maple syrup: to sweeten, if needed.

Optional Garnishes: cranberries, rosemary sprigs, star anise, orange slices

How to Make It

This refreshing recipe couldn’t get any simpler: just pour, garnish, and go.

  1. Pour the cranberry juice into a punch bowl, dispenser, or pitcher.
  2. Add the orange juice and ginger ale. Stir and taste, then add the optional maple syrup if needed.

  2. Serve over ice in glasses.

Tips & Tricks

  • I recommend chilling all ingredients prior to assembling. The colder the ingredients are, the less change of dilution.
  • A lot of people don’t like pulp in their OJ, so choose a no pulp or lower pulp juice to accommodate.
  • Create a garnish station for your guests to serve themselves.
  • An optional but fun idea: regular ice will dilute the punch, so freeze some large cranberry juice ice blocks to add to the punch bowl to keep it really cold while keeping the flavor. You can freeze the juice in a silicone muffin tin for large blocks or fill a bundt pan halfway with juice, add a few extra garnish pieces if you want, and set on a baking sheet to freeze into a beautiful ice ring.
  • For a punch with a creamy texture and a little froth, stir in a small tub of sherbet to the finished punch before serving.

Instructions

  • Place the cranberry juice, orange juice and ginger ale in your choice of punch bowl, dispenser or pitcher. (See notes below for recommendations for prepping ahead of time)
  • Stir to combine, taste, then add a little maple syrup to sweeten if needed.
  • Garnish with your choice of cranberries, rosemary, star anise or orange slices.

Notes

Tips for prepping ahead
  • Add the cranberry and orange juice to your pitcher or punch bowl, but wait until serving before you add the ginger ale or you'll lose some of the lovely fizz.
  • If you're using the garnishes, prep these ahead of time too, and create a garnish station for your guests. Place the garnish station next to the punch bowl so your guests can serve themselves.
Tips for adding ice
  • You can add a cup or two of ice to the punch bowl or pitcher prior to serving, but any more than this will dilute the cranberry punch. I recommend freezing some cranberry juice ice cubes to avoid this!
Garnish station
  • Prepare a garnish station so your guests can serve themselves! I love using cranberries, rosemary, orange slices and star anise for this punch but it's so versatile, so feel free to get creative!
