Blue Lagoon Mocktail

By Natalie Battaglia | Updated June 8, 2025

Looking for the best blue lagoon mocktail? Let me help! I tested this recipe so many times my fingers turned blue...so you can be sure it is perfect every time. I've included both a tropical, classic version and a better-for-you option, that is lower in sugar and nourishing. Both versions take less than 5 minutes to make and can be made as a batch mocktail too. I just know you'll love them both!

Why You'll Love this recipe

  • There's something for everyone: Iโ€™ve had so many requests for a blue lagoon mocktail, but for those of you that have been here awhile, you know that nourishing mocktails are usually my thing! So I went on the hunt for ways to recreate this classic and ended up with a better-for-you version and classic version.
    .
  • It's Insta worthy: who doesn't love a blue mocktail? This stunning recipe is an absolute show stopper and will have everyone asking you - what are you drinking?! Note: the mocktail in this post is the better-for-you version made with blue spirulina. If you use the blue curacao syrup, the tint of blue will be slightly different
  • It can be made in minutes: both version are made right in your glass, saving time AND washing up - double win!

Ingredients - what you need

To make a classic blue lagoon mocktail, you'll need:

  • Blue curaรงao syrup: be sure to choose a non-alcoholic syrup. There are plenty on the market and any brand will work.
  • Lemonade
  • Optional: your favourite alcohol-free spirit, such as non alcoholic vodka. Note that a classic virgin blue lagoon is made with vodka, so this will get you the most authentic result. You can sub this with lemon juice, a splash of orange juice, or just leave it out if you wish
  • Garnish of your choice: I personally love a slice of citrus, a cherry or some edible flowers.

  • Optional: as above, your favorite alcohol free spirit, such as vodka
  • Garnish of your choice: as above

How to make it

This blue mocktail comes together in just minutes! Regardless of what version you are making, simply:
Fill a large glass with ice. Add all ingredients and stir gently to combine. Garnish and serve. A note on the blue spirulina: You might find the drink foams up a bit as the ingredients react with each other, so just scoop the foam out โ€“ although my boys thought this was โ€˜supercoolโ€™ and wanted to eat it instead!

Frequently asked questions

Is blue curaรงao syrup alcoholic?

I am regularly asked - does blue curacao have alcohol? While the liqueur blue curaรงao is alcoholic, most blue curaรงao syrups are non-alcoholic. They add the colour and flavour of the liqueur without any alcohol. Be sure you check the label on the brand you choose though just in case.

What type of glass should I serve a Blue Lagoon Mocktail in?

The traditional glass for this classic cocktail is the hurricane glass. This is sometimes referred to as a tulip glass. If you don't have a tulip glass, try a highball glass instead.

What garnish should I use?

There are many ways to garnish your virgin Blue Lagoon, the sky really is the limit. Lemon or orange slices are always an excellent choice. You can serve it with either of those plus a couple maraschino cherries thrown in for good measure.
For something more floral and fancy, orchid blossoms will look incredible and add that WOW-factor. But if thatโ€™s too much for you, mint sprigs will add that herbal, bespoke touch.

    1. Hi Barb,
I was using the Stryyk non-alcoholic vodka but unfortunately I can't get it anymore. I'll come back and let you know if I find a replacement!

    1. Hi Tommy! Yes this is the perfect baby shower mocktail, I agree. I used edible orchards from my local grocery store but any edible flowers would work (make sure you always check that the flowers you use are edible and haven't been sprayed with any pesticides). Any lemonade will work for this recipe. I hope that's helpful!
