What is Strawberry Lemonade?
Strawberry lemonade is a twist on regular lemonade, which is usually made with lemons, sugar and water.
The addition of strawberries gives this drink a lovely , fruity. sweet flavour. Not to mention strawberry and lemon are like best friends - they just work together!
Instead of using sugar, I used honey to sweeten this recipe. The results is a lovely sweet flavour and finishes with a lovely lemony tang.
Ingredients you'll need
Strawberries: I tested this recipe with fresh only, but I am sure frozen strawberries would work. Just be sure to defrost them before blending.
Lemon juice: I always prefer to use fresh lemon juice wherever possible. If you can't get your hands of fresh lemons, use a pre-squeezed option.
Honey: I like using high quality honey in my recipes due to the health benefits. Health food shops are great places to buy honey with health benefits, just ask at the counter.
Cold water: I used regular tap water for this recipe because I prefer a flat lemonade. If you love a sparkling lemonade, replace the water with soda water.
Variations
This recipe is made with family easy to source ingredients, but feel free to use the following variations.
Fresh strawberries can be replaced with frozen, just ensure you defrost the strawberries prior to blending so they are easy to strain.
Prefer a sparkling lemonade? Use soda water in place of regular water.
If you're not a fan of honey, try your sweetener of choice. Liquid Stevia or maple syrup are both good choices.
Can't find fresh lemons? Using a bottled version is fine!
How to make strawberry lemonade
Prepare the strawberries by cutting them in half. Squeeze the lemon and measure out the honey and water.
Place strawberries, lemon juice, honey and half the water in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Note: you need a powerful blender for blending the strawberries. Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer. You might want to use the back of a coup spoon to make sure all the juice has been released. Add the rest of water and place in the fridge in a large pitcher until you're ready to serve.
When serving, garnish with a strawberry rose, a lemon wheel, or a sprig of mint.
Note: you will need a powerful blender for blending the strawberries, lemon and honey together.
I hope you enjoyed this easy strawberry lemonade as much as I did!
Cheers and enjoy.
