Grapefruit Mocktails with Ginger

It's no secret that grapefruit and ginger are the perfect pair and they both shine in my easy grapefruit mocktail. Fresh citrus meets ginger for a cozy heat, then a dash of honey syrup brings it all into balance. No shaker needed. Just pour, top with bubbles, and enjoy. And yes! It can be made as a batch mocktail too.

Why I Love This (and you will too!)

There's so much to love about this simple sip. It's:

  • The perfect flavor balance: grapefruit and ginger pair beautifully, and ginger brings the satisfying warmth we often look for in spirit-free sips. Tip: use your leftover grapefruit juice in my easy paloma mocktails!
  • Nourishing: with real citrus, fresh ginger, and a simple honey syrup you can make in a minute.
  • So quick and easy: build it straight in the glass. stir and top with soda. Done.

Ingredients

  • Grapefruit juice - freshly squeezed is always best if you can. Choose ruby red for a sweeter profile or white grapefruit for extra tang.
  • Lemon juice - again, fresh will always reign supreme, but you can use bottled if that's all you have.
  • Ginger juice - grate and squeeze from fresh ginger for the boldest flavor (simple instructions below), and adjust to taste if you like it spicier or softer. My ginger mocktails are always a crowd favorite if you need to use up your leftover ginger.
  • Quick honey syrup - if you're someone who usually shys away from making your own syrup - please don't! This can be made in 15 seconds (yes, literally!), and you'll find the method below.
  • Soda water - plain or a citrus soda/sparkling water both work. If you love kombucha mocktails, you could even use a citrus kombucha.

How To Make It

  1. Add the grapefruit juice and lemon juice to a tall glass.
  2. Pour in the ginger juice and honey syrup, then fill with ice.

The Secret To Perfect Grapefruit Mocktails

These mocktails are incredibly simple to prepare, but I've got some tips and tricks to help you whip up this drink (and subsequent ones) even faster.

  • Freezing your peeled ginger before grating helps it grate super fine and reduces waste.
  • Rolling the citrus on the counter before juicing can coax out more juice from the fruit. Use some pressure. It won't break!
  • Clear or large ice cubes melt more slowly, which helps keep flavors bright.
  • Make extra honey syrup and keep a small bottle in the fridge for faster mocktails next time! It can be kept for up to one month.
