These simple, bubbly peach mocktails with basil, honey, lemon and fizzy kombucha (or soda!) have the goodness of vitamin C plus nourishing probiotics and take just minutes to make.
This deliciously peachy mocktail goes viral on my socials every year for good reason - because it's one of the best mocktail recipes around! It’s nutritious, simple to make and oh so beautiful.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
It’s easy to make: using a simple shake and serve method, this mocktail can be ready in minutes, no bartending skills required.
It’s a healthy mocktail: YES, I am hearing your requests for healthy mocktails loud and clear and I have plenty on the way!
It can be easily adapted: I understand not everyone loves kombucha, so I have offered some replacements below. You can also replace the honey with maple syrup or your choice of sweetener.
Ingredients – what you need
Peach puree: you can either purchase peach puree or it’s SUPER easy to make your own. Simply blend 5 tinned (canned) peach slices with 1-2 tablespoons of liquid from the tin. If you prefer to use fresh peach, use half a chopped peach and 1-2 tablespoons of water. It’s your choice whether you leave the skin on or not. I prefer to leave mine on for the extra fiibre.
Fresh basil: fresh is always best when it comes to herbs, so use fresh basil if you can.
Honey: honey is one of my favorite mocktail sweeteners, because it’s so easily accessible and taste divine. You can use any honey you wish. This can also be replaced with maple syrup or your sweetener of choice.
Lemon juice: again, I prefer fresh when it comes to citrus but I know it can be expensive! If bottled is all that’s available to you that’s absolutely fine.
Kombucha for the mixer: I used a ginger kombucha for this recipe, because the combination of peach, basil, lemon and kombucha is just chefs kiss. A lemon or plain kombucha would also work.
Tajin (for rim): this is completely optional, but I find a Tajin rim really compliments this mocktail and makes it look oh so pretty too.
Equipment
There are a couple of tools you’ll need for this recipe, but If you don’t have them, do not worry! I’ve offered some simple alternatives that can be found lying around your home.
Shaker: if you’re going to be making regular mocktails, a gorgeous shaker is almost essential (in my opinion!). If you don’t have one, my favorite alternatives are a mason jar with a tight fitting lid or a drink bottle. Essentially anything with a tight fitting lid that somewhat resembles a cocktail shaker will work here!
Muddler: Muddlers are a fun addition to your mocktail tools but again, not absolutely necessary. My favorite alternative is to use the handle end of a wooden spoon.
How to make it
To make your peach mocktail, just follow these easy steps.
Place peach puree and lemon juice in your shaker.
Add the basil and muddle very gently.
Place the honey with half a teaspoon of water and microwave very briefly (5 seconds max!), then mix with a spoon to create a quick honey syrup. Add the syrup to the shaker with some ice, replace and lid and shake well.
If you want to create the optional rim: run a lemon wedge over the side of your glass to moisten. Place the Tajin on a shallow plate or board and gently roll the moistened rim of the glass in the Tajin, placing light pressure on the glass so the Tajin sticks.
Strain over ice and top with your choice of kombucha of soda water. Garnish with your choice of edible flowers, basil or sliced peach.
Expert tips and tricks
- If you’re making your own peach puree, this can be done the day before or the morning of, to save time when assembling the mocktail.
- Make sure your kombucha (or soda!) is nice and cold before adding it to your mocktail. Warm or room temperature mixes not only warm the drink but also melt your ice, resulting in a watery mocktail.
- Don’t muddle the basil too much as this can change the flavor. Simply press down gently with a muddle a few times until it is slightly bruised.
Frequently Asked Questions
I’m not really a fan of kombucha, can I use something else?
Yes! I would recommend a lemon sparkling water, regular soda water or a ginger ale or beer. Any of these alternatives would work.
Can I buy pre-made puree for my peach mocktail?
Yes you can! A quick Google will tell you where you can purchase it closest to you. As a side note, I do prefer to make my own as ready-made puree can have extra sugar added – and peach puree is already plenty sweet enough! Be sure to check the label before purchasing.
