Who is The Mindful Mocktail?
I’m Nat, and I’m so pleased you’re here.
I live in Australia with my husband and 2 kids and I have a passion for mocktails and other healthy drinks.
I talk a little about the kinds of mocktails I like to make on my About Me page.
Why a mocktail recipe blog?
Up until early 2020, I would drink wine most days.
Some people can do this and not develop a problem. I am not one of those people.
I never hit ‘rock bottom’ or had anything hugely traumatic happen to me as a result of my drinking. But I did have a few scary moments and developed a habit where I relied on alcohol far more that I would have liked. I’ll go into more detail in future posts.
There was always this inner voice (let’s call it my gut) saying to me….something is not right here.
Alcohol is not the devil and I am not here to demonise it. But I got to a place where I knew it was no longer serving me and it was time to shift my relationship with it.
How The Mindful Mocktail was born
In February 2020, my husband and I had a weekend away without our kids. For the first time in my adult life on a weekend away, I didn’t drink any alcohol.
It was during that weekend I realised the lack of options out there for people who choose not to drink, or are unable to drink for whatever reason. I was sick of being offered soda and lime and knew there had to be a better way.
On Day 2 we went to a gorgeous place called Arbory Afloat. They had a spectacular mocktail list. This picture is of me drinking a beautiful mocktail there.
That’s when The Mindful Mocktail was born.
Initially I thought it would be great to create a page to give shout outs to restaurants and bars that do their alcohol-free menus well.
Given the current situation with Covid-19 I’ve had to put that on hold.
Instead, I started creating amazing mocktails and other alcohol free drinks from home and thought it might be fun to share them.
So here I am.
