Valentine's Day Mocktail

This easy pink Valentine's Day mocktail has the perfect balance of juicy strawberry, floral rose water and subtle bubbles of non-alcoholic rosé or soda water. Garnished with a simple strawberry rose, you have the option of making this drink as a batch mocktail or making it low-sugar if you wish.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz strawberry syrup (homemade or store bought - see note 1 for homemade method)
  • ¼ teaspoon rose water (or more to taste)
  • ½ cup non-alcoholic rosé or soda water (see note 2)
  • 1 strawberry (optional for strawberry rose, see note 3 for tutorial)
  • Pinch of pink edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare your optional strawberry rose (see a link to the tutorial in the notes section below)
  • Fill a wine glass with ice. Add the strawberry syrup, rose water, non-alcoholic rosé and optional edible glitter.
  • Stir gently and garnish with the strawberry rose. Serve immediately.

Notes

Note 1 - strawberry simple syrup: to make your own strawberry simple syrup, use
½ cup strawberries, fresh or thawed
½ cup sugar (or powdered monkfruit sweetener for a low sugar version)
½ cup water
Method: place water and sugar/monkfruit sweetener in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar/sweetener has dissolved. Add the strawberries and bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer with the lid on for 15 minutes. Strain then cool until you're ready to use. Note: do not push down on the strawberries while straining or your syrup will be cloudy.
Note 2 - I prefer using non-alcoholic rosé in this recipe as it gives the drink more of an adult feel, but you can use soda water or even a lemon sparkling water if you prefer.
Note 3 - strawberry roses:  you can find a strawberry rose tutorial here.
