Chia Seed Water

Hydrating, nourishing and oh so delicious, these easy chia seed water recipes can be made in minutes and stored in the fridge for when you need something satisfying to sip.
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: American
Servings: 1

Ingredients

For Your Chia Seeds

  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds (black or white)
  • 2 cups water

For The Drink

  • ½-1 cup sliced fruit/herbs of your choice (see notes section below for some of my favorite combinations)
  • 1.5 cups water (coconut water can also be used)
  • 2 tablespoons soaked chia seeds (method below)

Instructions

To Soak Your Chia Seeds

  • Place 2 tablespoons chia seeds and 2 cups water in a jar or pitcher. Stir well and leave for 15–20 minutes, stirring once or twice as the seeds begin to gel. This will make enough soaked chia for about 5 drinks.

To Make The Drink

  • Add the sliced fruit and soaked chia seeds to your glass or bottle. Top with water and stir/shake well. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to infuse.
  • Give the drink a gentle shake before serving, as the chia seeds will naturally settle to the bottom.

Notes

You can use any fruit or herbs of your choice to create your chia seed waters. Some of my favorite flavor combinations are:
  • Green -  cucumber, lime, mint, kiwi
  • Orange - mango, orange, lemon
  • Red - pomegranate seeds, strawberry
  • Blue - blue spirulina, blueberries
  • Pink - pink dragonfruit, lemon
Have fun!
