Fire Cider Recipe
A simple homemade fire cider made with fresh ingredients and apple cider vinegar, design to take during cold and flu season.
- 1 red onion peeled and chopped
- 1 red chilli chopped
- 1 garlic bulb sliced in half
- 1 orange with skin chopped
- 1 lemon with skin chopped
- 1-2 thumbs turmeric chopped
- 2-3 herbs of your choice (I used thyme and rosemary)
- 2-3 spices of your choice (I used star anise and cinnamon)
- 3-4 cups apple cider vinegar with the “mother”
- 3 thumbs of ginger washed and chopped
- Honey to taste (add after the mixture sits and has been strained)
Chop all ingredients and add to a large mason jar. Pour in the apple cider vinegar until the ingredients are completely covered.
Shake, and place the jar in a cool, dark place for 2-4 weeks. Shake every other day to mix.
Strain into a large pitcher and stir in the honey (if using).
Place in an airtight jar or bottle and keep up to 5 months.
