Fire Cider Recipe

A simple homemade fire cider made with fresh ingredients and apple cider vinegar, design to take during cold and flu season.

Ingredients

  • 1 red onion peeled and chopped
  • 1 red chilli chopped
  • 1 garlic bulb sliced in half
  • 1 orange with skin chopped
  • 1 lemon with skin chopped
  • 1-2 thumbs turmeric chopped
  • 2-3 herbs of your choice (I used thyme and rosemary)
  • 2-3 spices of your choice (I used star anise and cinnamon)
  • 3-4 cups apple cider vinegar with the “mother”
  • 3 thumbs of ginger washed and chopped
  • Honey to taste (add after the mixture sits and has been strained)

Instructions

  • Chop all ingredients and add to a large mason jar. Pour in the apple cider vinegar until the ingredients are completely covered.
  • Shake, and place the jar in a cool, dark place for 2-4 weeks. Shake every other day to mix.
  • Strain into a large pitcher and stir in the honey (if using).
  • Place in an airtight jar or bottle and keep up to 5 months.
